Loyola-on-the-Potomac is a Jesuit Retreat House that provides directed, private, and group retreats for men and women. On weekends three-day parish group retreats are scheduled (Friday evening through lunch on Sunday). During the summer, eight-day individually directed retreats are offered; a guided, group retreat is also available. The cost for a weekend retreat is $225 (including three meals per day). The suggested donation for an 8-day retreat is $555; financial assistance is available for those with limited resources.
Constructed in 1958, Loyola is situated on a bluff over-looking the Potomac River. There are 235 acres of woodlands laced with numerous paths for all to enjoy. With its woods, riverfront beach, and the spectacular sunsets over the Potomac, Loyola has offered thousands of retreatant
s the opportunity and means of experiencing the joy and serenity of God's presence.The two-story brick building has 68 single rooms, each with a half-bath; showers are at the end of each corridor. Recently completed renovations included the addition of an elevator and two fully-accessible bedrooms with full baths.
The main chapel accommodates up to eighty people, and a small oratory provides room for approximately twenty. The building, which has central heating and air conditioning, also houses two dining rooms, a large conference room, and seven break-out rooms.
A charming and comfortably furnished lounge with fireplace creates the perfect atmosphere for reading and quiet conversation with fellow retreatants.
